When J&K was in trouble with five wickets down with score on 54 runs, everyone expected Manzoor Dar (Pandav) to come in the middle and join Jatin Wadhwan but instead in walked Waseem Raza ahead of Pandav and it turned out a masterstroke from J&K team management.
All the talk on social media was why team is not giving chance to Manzoor up the order and it is nonsense to opt Waseem ahead of the Pandav.
All the talk and fuss about the issue soon receded with Waseem forming up match wining partnership with Jatin in middle. The duo took J&K out of trouble and set the stage for Pandav.
When Pandav finally walked in the middle J&K needed only 22 runs to win with ample time in hand.
Pandav did what he does best, blasting his first ball for four followed by another and then a six. He finished with 20 off 12 balls leading J&K to a four wicket win. Jatin remained unbeaten on 70 that had 5 sixes.
So what was it and why team promoted Raza instead of Pandav. It was the tricky decision keeping in view the situation.
With leg spinners operating from both ends and Pandav vulnerable against spin, team opted for Raza who just needed to support Wadhwan who was going great. It proved a masterstroke with Raza doing his job perfectly. Raza may not have been in wickets column but he did contribute an important part in J&K’s win. Pandav if sent that who knows may have failed and team may had to taste defeat. Anything was possible but in the end result matters which went J&K’s.
