The final of the Inter District CRPF football Cup 2017 was played at the TRC ground between Jahangir FC and Novelty FC on Saturday.
In the event that had started on December 7th , eight teams participated which included winners and runners up teams of Budgam, Ganderbal and four semi finalist teams of Srinagar.
In the final played today Jahangir FC displayed good teamwork and very impressive game and took early lead by two goals in the first half which they maintained for some time but Novelty FC managed to equalise by the end of the match. This well contested match remained a draw when the final whistle was blown.
However, in the penalty shootout, Jahangir FC took the decisive lead of 5-4 and thereby won the match by 7-6. In spite of cold weather, all the players performed very well and the match was fought with high spirits and enthusiasm.
The chief guest of today’s ceremony, IG CRPF Srinagar Sector Ravideep Singh Sahi, gave away prizes to the winners and runners up teams. The players were awarded with individual medals, beautiful trophies and cash prize of Rs.25,000/- to the winners and Rs.20,000/- to the runners up. The match referees and other officials were presented mementos.
