In the ongoing Vijay Merchant Under 16 tourney, J&K lost all it’s four matches by an innings. J&K Under 16 team had a forgettable tournament as they were thrashed badly in all the matches.
Most of the batsmen failed to hit double digits and none of the bowlers claimed more than three wickets in whole tourney. This deplorable performance from team puts the Under 16 selectors under question mark. They have been in radar previously as well for favortism and questionable selection.
A bunch of players complained about these couple of selectors who have been selectors of Under 16 age group from past three seasons. A player who was left out of team despite doing well in trials said,
“These two selectors seem more of dictators while selection. They openly favour some players they know well.”
He also added that, “One of the selector is from Sopore and there were three boys from Sopore in the team. None of them performed even average. So it’s completely visible that selectors are neglecting the performance and selecting undeserving players.”
Other player who too was part of trials said, “I don’t need to say much as performance of team is infront of us. When selectors will select the team on the basis of favoritism, what can we expect from team.” Under 16 level is the crucial part for every budding player and there must be deserving ones in the team. Hope JKCA would check into this matter and remove these selectors.
