‘Because of one boy, who is son of influential person whole team is suffering’

In a shocking incident which is one of a kind in the history of a cricket, BCCI stopped the ongoing match of CK Nayudu Trophy between Goa and J&K only after 13-overs were bowled .JKCA

Reacting to the incident J&K Cricket Association General Secretary Iqbal Shah told KNS, that the team was sent on October 3 and they received the Court order copy on October 7 that too through State Sports Council.
Shah further said that the selection was done on the basis of merit.
“He is son of an influential person that is why there is such a hue and cry. If it would have been any poor boy, then it was not any issue for anyone. The selection process was fair and deserving players were given the chance,” he said.
He said because of one boy, who happens to be a son of an influential person, the career of 16 other young cricketers has been left at stake.
He said they have also written to the BCCI that they (BCCI) is not a party to it and the JKCA would settle the issue in State High Court. “We will clear our stand in the High court on October 9.”

Earlier J&K High Court had put stay on the selection and deputation of J&K Under-23 owing to the petition filed by one of the player alleging selection discrepancy.

However despite Court order J&K Cricket Association deputed its team for the national event. The team was on Sunday in the middle of the match with Goa batting on 43 for the loss of one wicket when BCCI officials stopped the play. Only 13 overs were bowled when the match was stopped.

It is learnt that Court order was also served to BCCI and who in turn stopped the whole match leaving all J&K players stranded in the middle of the pitch.

“Even match referee was puzzled by the BCCI’s action. He said that he has never seen such thing happening during his career. You can’t put careers of whole team on stake because one player was not selected in the team,” said sources in the team.

Sources said that players are disheartened and some were seen crying as they were fully prepared to take one of the biggest challengers of their cricketing career.
