State Academy T20 Championship: Youth Combine win in last ball finish

SRINAGAR: Cricket action continued in State Cricket Academy T-20 Championship with six matches played across various districts of the state on Thursday.

In Baderwah district fixture, United Cricket Club beat Youth Combine by four wickets in a last ball finish. Chasing 133, United reached the target in the last ball of the game with Sajid scoring vital 27. Earlier Youth Combine could manage only 132 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Sajid walked away with man of the match award.

In the second round fixture of Srinagar district, Amar Singh Club beat City Cricket Club quite easily to make it to the next round. Batting first, City Cricket Club limped to 126 in the allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Sahil took two wickets for Amar Singh Club. Sahil then shone with the bat scoring a solid to power his side to successful chase in just 16.1 overs. He was chosen man of the mathc for his all-round brilliance.

In the second quarter-final for district Anantnag leg of the tournament, Shamsul Haq Bijbehara beat Islamia Kanwal by 44 runs. Powered by Sabdar Gatto’s 37-ball 63, Shamsul Haq Bijbehara managed to post a score of 163 in the stipulated 20 overs. For Islamia Kanwal, Farooq Amin took three wickets. Chasing a target of 164, Islamia Kanwal were restricted to 129 for the loss of eight wickets. Sabdar Gattoo was the pick of the bowlers for the winning side taking three wickets to earn him the man of the match award.
