Shoaib Malik eyes place in Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 squad

Srinagar: Refusing to retire, senior all-rounder Shoaib Malik has returned to domestic T20 cricket with an eye on T20 World Cup 2024.

Malik is representing Sialkot Region in the upcoming Pakistan National T20 Cup, scheduled to commence on November 24.

According to a media report, the 41-year-old cricketer has aspirations of making a return to the Pakistan national cricket team for the 2024 World Cup.

Malik, who has previously tasted success with the Sialkot Stallions in numerous National T20 Cups, brings leadership and winning experience to the team.

Shoaib Malik emphasized the need for clarity regarding his potential inclusion in the national squad.

“If I will be given clarity and will be asked to play, then I will definitely consider,” Malik asserted, indicating that a clear communication from the cricket authorities would be a deciding factor in his return.

The all-rounder clarified that his motivation to continue playing is not solely centered around the 2024 World Cup.

“It isn’t like I am playing cricket because I want to play in the 2024 World Cup. I am playing cricket because I enjoy playing cricket and I can play cricket,” he concluded.
