Mohammad Rizwan dedicates World Cup century for Gaza; Indian journalist raises question

Srinagar: In a major controversial statement Pakistan star batter Mohammad Rizwan has dedicated his match winning World Cup century vs Sri Lanka for the Gaza.

Rizwan had 176 run stand with Abdullah Shafique tor the 3rd wicket as Pakistan made record successful chase vs Lanka. It is highest ever sucessful chase in World Cup history.

Ireland had previously held the record for the highest run chase in ODI World Cups when they successfully chased down 329 versus England during the 2011 World Cup in India.

However, Rizwan took to X and shared a post in support of Gaza which has created a controversy.

“This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Happy to contribute in the win. Credits to the whole team and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier. Extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout,” Rizwan posted on X.

Indian journalist Vikrant Gupta commented on the posted tagging ICC. Is this allowed.

“Is this allowed @ICC ? I remember Dhoni was asked to remove the Army insignia from his gloves during the World Cup 2019

Aren’t cricketers prohibited from making political and religious statements during ICC events,” Vikrant Gupta posted.
