Bandipora, July 09: An unplayable spell of bowling by young U-14 cricketer, Taufeeq, on Thursday led Bandipora Gymkhana to an easy win against Shining Star Banakoot in the ongoing Cool & Cool Cup at Watapora.
The left-arm spinner, playing his 2nd match, made the life hard for Banakoot batsmen by bowling consistent tight lines. He was rewarded duly as he scalped as many as four wickets in his spell of four overs.
Earlier, after finding luck in the coin-toss, Gymkhana made a slow start, however, as the innings unfolded, they changed the gears.
Thanks to a comprehensive cameo by skipper Imran Haji, who made 36 runs, Bandipora side made fighting 118 runs. Muzamil and Majid also contributed 31 and 21 runs, respectively. For opposition, Jameel and Asim dismissed a brace of batsmen each.
In reply, Gymkhana bowlers struck early to keep Shining Stars on back-foot. None of their batsman could make an impact.
Amir with 18 runs was the top-scorer. Lastly, they required 22 runs off the last over, and finished up losing by 10 runs.
Taufeeq was the star for Bandipora Gymkhana for his excellent display of left-arm spin bowling.
