WWE honours Dara Singh, inducts Indian wrestler in 2018 Hall of Fame

NEW DELHI: Well known professional wrestler Dara Singh was on Saturday inducted in the WWE Hall of FameLegacy.Dara singh
The popular Indian Pehelwan wrestled in the 1940’s through 1983 and got in the ring with likes of Japanese pro-wrestling pioneer Rikidōzan, WWElegend Lou Thesz, whom he beat for the World championship.
The mid-century Indian wrestler boasted a 53-inch-wide chest, which made him a favorite in many tournaments. He battled all over the eastern hemisphere, capturing the Commonwealth Championship and titles in India and Singapore.
Singh was also inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in 1996.
Singh’s reach stretched beyond the squared circle, as he became a popular Indian movie star and politician.
After retiring from professional wrestling, Singh found success in the showbiz industry and was known for his role of Hanuman in film Bajrangi (1976) and in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan.

Singh passed away in 201 at the age of 83 due to cardiac arrest. Along with Singh, others who were inducted in the Legacy wing of WWE of Hall of Fame were: Boris Malenko, Lord Alfred Hayes, Rufus R. “Freight Train” Jones, “Golden Greek” Jim Londos, Cora Combs, Stan Stasiak, Hiro Matsuda, Sputnik Monroe, El Santo.
