Srinagar: With the ‘humiliation’ episode of International footballer Ishfaq Ahmad coming to surface , questions are again been asked that will State Government ever honor our jewels of sports like Parvez Rasool, Mehraj ud Din Wadoo and Ishfaq Ahmad by giving them decent job offers.
Like in our neighboring States of Haryana and Punjab, sports enthusiasts in JK were hoping from last many years that State Government will soon honor top stars like Parvez Rasool, Mehraj ud Din Wadoo and Ishfaq Ahmad with decent job offers for their contribution in the field of sports.
Wadoo and Ishfaq has been playing at highest level of Indian football from last more than 13 years and still have never been offered a job by the State Government. Both have played for top national clubs of India in I-League and now Indian Super League.
Apart from that both the football icons of the valley have represented India at international level and deserve every bit of the respect.
ISL is currently India’s top football league in which some of the World’s best footballer’s compete. Wadoo and Ishfaq are the only two footballers’s ever to play in that league.
On the other side, another icon, from the field of cricket Parvez Rasool is known for many first, First International cricketer of State, first player to lay in IPL and what not.
Unlike our neighboring States where star players like Parvez, Wadoo and Ishfaq would have been long back with decent job offers. JK is the State where their name is only used for personal mileage.
“It is disgrace for a player of highest caliber like Ishfaq to be appointed as PeT in DYSS. In our neighboring States players like Jeetender, Geeta Phoghat and others have been given decent jobs in Police or other administrative, sports departments,” said a sports enthusiast Adil.
“Sports Ministry should take cognizance of this, Ishfaq and other stars deserve more than more,” said another sports follower Idrees Ahmad.
In past top footballer’s or cricketer’s of State used to be adjusted in various department teams on decent positions. However, as most of the departmental teams have been shut down, the things like are likely going to happen in future as well.
With Secretary Sports Council, Waheed ur Rehaman Parra assuring that he will take Ishfaq Ahmad into sports council assign him the charge of the football academy we hope that he will do better than that by honoring all the three jewels of our sports arena with decent job profiles.
With that he will set new trend in the sports arena of the State and that is going motivate our future generation towards sports.
