Srinagar, June 9: Pakistan skipper and Karachi Kings star batsman Babar Azam has said that it is important to take singles when a batsman gets stuck in the middle .
As the Pakistan Super League is set to resume after being stopped earlier due to COVID outbreak, Babar Azam while speaking with CricWick has said that there is no need to panic when batsman is unable to play his shots.
“Sometimes you get stuck as a batsman and can’t play your shots. It’s important to come out of that phase by taking singles, rotate the strike and as you get your confidence back, you start to cut loose. We must understand the importance of partnerships and try to adjust to the conditions. If you are unable to play your shots, you don’t have to panic and slog, take a moment, stay calm and let the other batsman take the lead too,” said Babar Azam.
About upcoming matches of Pakistan Super League Karachi Kings star batsman said, “After spending the first 10-12 days in the quarantine, the practice has begun and we are trying to get used to the conditions in Abu Dhabi”.
Babar said players have been given clearly defined roles and that akin to last year, they have a good team combination this time around too.
“Karachi has always been a favourite (side) and it has a strong fan base. Last year, we had a good team combination and this year we have a good combination as well. The main thing is that each player knows his role and where will he be playing, they have their plans in place and are aware of how they need to contribute to the team’s cause” Babar said.
“My individual plan is simple. The team depends on me so I try to take the innings deep in the best interest of the team,” he added.
