One the J&K top left arm spinner Waseem Raza took 6-wickets to see the Islamia College Alumni team through to Semifinals of the Prof. Yousuf Memorial Inter College Cricket Cup.
In the last quarter final of the tournament Gandhi Memorial college captain won the toss and decided to bat first. The team had a wonderful start when they were cruising with scores of 96 runs in 10 overs for the loss of one wicket only. But after the introduction of Raza who bowled beautifully to claim 6 wickets in 5 overs giving away just 15 runs only. Shahid Asrar also took 3 crucial wickets for 18 runs in 4.5 overs. For Gandhi College Amir Suhail scored 68 runs in 38 balls Arif Shan scored 30 in 38 balls. Gandhi College scored 151 runs in 22.5 overs.
Chasing a target of 152 runs, Alumni team achieved the target in 23.4 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. Moosa scored 47 runs in 45 balls and Raees scored rapid 36 in 16 balls.
For Gandhi College Adil Rash took 4 and Shakeel took 2 wickets. Islamia College Alumni team won by 4 wickets.
Tomorrow the Alumni team will face GDC Ganderbal in first semifinal and on Thursday A S College will play against the host college team in second semifinal.
The tournament is being organised by the department of Physical Education Islamia College Srinagar.
