With J&K cricket team going through roller coaster ride in the ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy tournament by winning against strong side and going down against the sides they are supposed to beat, it is time for the team to proper chances to players like Umar Nissar and Ishtiyaq Elahi (Robby).
The duo did made their debut for J&K in its first match against Vidarbha but then in next match they were dropped despite the fact whole team had failed in that match. Team went ahead with players like Ahmad Banday, Jatin Wadhwan and Shubham Pundir in next match and went on to win. They then suffered shock defeat against Chattisgarh. Ian Dev has been opted to do wicket keeping instead of regular keeper, only to make his place in team intact.
On contrary it is totally unfair to drop new players after only a one match without giving them proper chance. In their first match, the duo of Umar Nissar and Robby were asked to open inning. It was new opening pair and both were making their debuts. Not only they would have been going through debut nerves but also were facing bowler like Umesh Yadav.
Both despite trying to do their best couldn’t do much so were other batsman who also failed against Vidarbha. But the axe fell on these two only.
To boost the morale of players like these there is need to give them proper run of two to three matches and they both deserve another chances.
Let’s hope that team management will go by this and boost their morale by given them advance news of making into next playing-XI.
