U-23 Cricket Tourney: Ahmad Banday slams unbeaten 173, JK trail by 200

Srinagar: Answering J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) selectors with his bat, young opener, Ahmad Omar Banday slammed unbeaten 173 as JK were on 269 for the loss of four wickets on third day of the ongoing U-23 Col CK Naydy trophy against Himachal Pradesh at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium, Amtar.

JK are still trail by 200 runs in reply to HP’s first inning total of 469 all out. The highlight of JK inning so far has been valiant knock of highly talented Ahmad Banday who was unbeaten on 173 runs when this report was being filled. The knock has taken him 285 deliveries scoring, 25 boundaries and one six.

JK has lost four wickets that included Wadhwan scoring 22, Zaid Muhammad 22, Shubam Pundir 0 and Paras Sharma 19.

With Ahmad, Muhammad Haziq Bhat is at the crease having scored 29 runs. The duo has scored unbeaten partnership of 103 runs between them so far.

For JK to avoid conceding first inning, Ahmad is the only hope. If goes on like he is currently then they may well overhaul the total and earn some crucial points from the match.

Ironically Ahmad was left out of Ranji trophy squad despite having tons of runs behind him in domestic circle. Instead of main team he was kept in Under-23 squad. He has answered and silenced the selectors with this knock now.

Scorecard

HP: 469/10

JK: 269/4 ( Banday 173*, Haziq Bhat 29*) trail by 200
