Paulie Malignaggi Predicts Tyson Fury Stoppage Win Against Anthony Joshua

New York: Former world champion Paulie Malignaggi has tipped Tyson Fury to defeat Anthony Joshua by stoppage in their highly anticipated all-British heavyweight showdown, warning that Joshua’s ability to absorb punches could prove a decisive factor.

The much-discussed clash is scheduled for December 11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, with the announcement triggering widespread excitement among boxing fans eager to see two of Britain’s biggest heavyweight stars finally face each other.

The fight was officially announced by Saudi boxing chief Turki Al-Sheikh last month following prolonged discussions over the venue. With both fighters having previously held multiple heavyweight world titles, the contest is being promoted as one of the biggest matchups in British boxing history.

Although Fury and Joshua currently hold no world titles, the WBA title is expected to be at stake when they enter the ring, adding further significance to an already high-profile encounter.

Malignaggi Questions Joshua’s Punch Resistance

Malignaggi believes Fury has the tools to exploit what he considers a potential weakness in Joshua’s defence. The former world champion pointed to Joshua’s recent tendency to appear vulnerable when caught cleanly, suggesting that Fury’s speed, movement and ability to connect could create serious problems for his compatriot.

Speaking to Parimatch, Malignaggi argued that although Fury is not regarded as the division’s most devastating puncher, his power should be sufficient to trouble Joshua if he consistently finds his target.

He also highlighted the contrast in their movement, suggesting that Fury remains the more fluid operator despite being in the later stages of his career, while Joshua’s footwork can sometimes appear less natural.

Based on their recent performances, Malignaggi ultimately backed Fury to secure a stoppage victory.

His prediction adds another talking point ahead of a contest in which both heavyweights will be under pressure to prove they can still compete at the highest level.

Former Champions Face a Defining Test

Fury and Joshua have enjoyed distinguished careers, but both enter the proposed showdown at an age when questions about longevity and their remaining time at the top of heavyweight boxing are inevitable.

Fury, who turned 38 on August 12, has a reported professional record of 36 wins, two defeats and one draw, including 25 victories by knockout. Joshua, who turned 37 on October 15, has recorded 30 wins and four defeats, with 27 knockouts.

Despite their advancing years, neither fighter can be dismissed. Their experience, punching power and championship pedigree mean the contest could still produce a memorable encounter.

For Fury, a victory would strengthen his position among the leading heavyweights of his generation. For Joshua, defeating his long-time British rival would provide an opportunity to silence doubts surrounding his durability and re-establish himself as a major force in the division.

While Malignaggi expects Fury to prevail by stoppage, the outcome will ultimately depend on how both fighters perform when they meet in the ring. With national pride, reputations and heavyweight ambitions at stake, the showdown promises to attract considerable attention from the boxing world.
