U-23: Banday, Auqib star as J&K beat Himachal by 2 runs

J&K registered its second straight win in the under-23 one-day League by beating hosts Himachal Pradesh by two runs through VJD method in a rain affected match played at Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala on Tuesday.

When rain interrupted the play, J&K were 183 for the loss of four wickets in response to Himachal Pradesh’s total of 270 runs. They needed 88 runs in 11 overs with six wickets in hand. Earlier batting first, hosts went on to score 270 runs for the loss of all wickets in 49.4 overs. SG Arora with 77 run knock was highest scorer for them while as AK Bains scored 37. For JK, Auqib Nabi took four wickets while as Akash Choudhay took three. Rohit took two and Abid one.

In reply, J&K batting was led by Ahmad Banday who scored 77 runs while as Shubham Khajuria scored 43. Shubham Pundir was batting on 22 and Fazil Rashid on 6 when rain interrupted the play. J&K won  the match by 2 runs through rain rule.

It was the second consecutive win for J&K team in the event from as many matches. In its first match, J&K had defeated Delhi.
