A Colourful Sports Day was today celebrated by the Govt. Degree College Bijbehara Kashmir. In the Sports Day programme the ‘College Sports Calendar’ for the session 2017-18 was declared Open by the Senior Professor of the college BashirAhmad Shah.
In the Inaugural speech Prof. Bashir Ahmad Shah “highlighted the importance of sports and games in day to day life and also stressed students to develop the habit of doing exercises on daily basis in their lives”. He also added that “for the conduct of Intramural/ Inter-Houses sports Competitions in the college for the session 2017-18, the college has divided the students of all the classes into 8 Houses and all the Sports Tournaments of the college will be conducted within the Houses throughout the year”. Besides him, the other Professors of the college in their speeches also highlighted the importance and health benefits of games and sports. On the occasion of Sports Day more than 500 male as well as female students of the college registered their names for the participation in the intramural/ Inter-houses competitions. During the pragramme both male and female students of the college displayed the brief show of different minor games to entertainment the audience. Beside this, “Tug of War” matches were also conducted in male as well as female teams. In the last touch of the sports day celebration, a friendly Tug of War match was conduct between College staff team and College students’ team, which ended with the staff team’s win.
