SP Higher Secondary School defeated Green Valley Educational Institute by 15 runs to book place in the final of the Kashmir Harvard Inter-School Cricket tournament on Monday.
In the second semifinal of the tournament played at TRC Ground Srinagar on June 11-2018, Green Valley won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first SP School on the back of the Munazir who scored unbeaten 62 posted 160 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Munazir with 62 was highest scorer while as Mubashir scored 27, Muteeb 26 and Hameem 22. For Green Valley, Hurair took three wickets while as Ammar took one.
In reply, Green Valley got off to a great start with openers Hurair and Azam putting up 80-run stand for the first wicket in 10 overs. But once they got out, both taken by Munazir, Green calklley inning collapsed. Though Junaid played lonely fighting inning, trying to take his team home but lack of support from other end didn’t help. In allotted 20 overs, Green Valley were able to score 145 runs , falling short by 15 runs. For Green Valley Junaid scored 54 runs while as Azam scored 44 and Hurair scored 29. For SP, Munazir , Shakir and Sharan took 2 wickets each.
Director Industries and Commerce, Kashmir Bilal Ahmad Bhat was guest during man of the match ceremony. Among others present were PDP Youth Wing Secretary Arif Laigaroo and Green Valley Academics head Riyaz Kathjoo. Munazir for his all-round performance was adjudged as man of the match.
The event is organized by SCA in collaboration with Amblin and is sponsored by Kashmir Harvard, J&K Bank and Unibic Biscuits.
