Ganderbal:Main Football field in Sindibal Ganderbal present a grim pictures of football infrastructure in the district .Mud is spread everywhere in the ground which affects football activities in the district.
Budding footballers in Ganderbal said that the ground was venue for the District football league matches .The matches are often postponed because of dilapidated conditions of the ground. They are made to play in mud which had affected their quality of football. Afaq Rahim coach of soccer de Ganderbal said, “District Football Association is ‘least concerned’ to improve conditions of the ground. District Football association forces my team to play matches on muddy field which is disadvantage for us .We often lose matches as my team is not able to give their best on muddy field.
” When contacted Bashir Dar ,President Ganderbal Football Association said ,”We have got meager resources we can’t manage the ground properly .If Jammu and Kashmir football Association and sports council will provide enough resources ,we will improve conditions of ground .As of now I am helpless ” Muzamil Mohammed State football academy coaches from Ganderbal said that Football had grown many folds in Ganderbal and lot of youth are taking up football .Sandibal ground is in bad state and it is not able to cater to large number of amateur football players.
The ground need lot of improvement in terms of surface and other infrastructure ” When this reporter contacted MLA Ganderbal, Ishfaq Jabar ,he said, “Ganderbal football association can come to my office .Whatever concern they have regarding football field they can communicate with me.A Indoor stadium and a synthetic football field has been earmarked for Ganderbal and that will improve sport infrastructure in Ganderbal.”
