With Shubham Khajuria and Ahmad Banday who are now regular part of J&K senior cricket team and represented State in Ranji trophy and recently concluded Mushtaq Ali T20, making themselves available for U-23 one day league and consequently getting selected for the J&K, questions are being raised about the procedure followed.
Ahmad Banday and Shubham both are eligible for Under-23 JK team but at the same time they have been regular part of J&K senior team. They played in both Ranji and T20 format this season for JK and now will be playing Under-23 One Day league as well for JK. This means they will be getting more matches to play than even Parvez Rasool and Ian Dev during the same season.
It was hoped that selectors will not opt for players who have been part of senior teams to do double jump of being part of senior as well as junior teams. However, with the arrival of CEO things instead of getting better are going worse.
It is not as such that JK gets around 50 or 60 per season to play at national level. Players like this are robbing some talented youngsters from earning their chance. It would be been perfect to give some to some players who are waiting in fringe instead of them.
Still not much has been lost as there is ample time to rest these players and include some other youngsters in the team who deserve chance more than these.
“If Banday and Khajuria wanted to play for U-23 then they should have played in multi day’s format for Under-23 team as well. But that time schedule overlapped while this time after coming back from t20 event recently they made themselves available for U-23. They are getting to play more matches than any player that is active in JK right now which is injustice with some youngsters,” said a senior player.
“Not only they are robbing players from getting their chance they are also making double money. It seems to be idea created in league with some selectors or JKCA officials,” another player said.
