Sharma flags off water sport team

Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Transport Sunil Kumar Sharma on Wednesday flagged off J&K water sports team for Chandigarh national event.

Minister flagged off seven member J&K contingent from TRC Nowgam. The J&K team would be representing State in All India Open Canoe Sprint National Championship to be held at Sultanpur, Chandigarh from June 16 to 18.Water sports

The contingent will participate in various events in the category of men Canoe single 500m and 200m canoe double 500m and 200m, C4 500m and 200m Kayak single 500m and 200m.

The championship is organized by Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association and 25 States are likely to take part in it.

For the event paddlers used to train daily in water sports centre Nehru Park under the guidance of Bilquis Mir national coach. Senior coach, Nisar Hussain was also present.

On the occasion Sunil Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of the players and coach. He assured them all kind of support.
