Shahid Afridi is new Pakistan chief selector, Abdul Razzaq member

Srinagar: Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed former skipper Shahid Afridi as chairman of the mens selection committee while as former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq as member of committee.

PCB had on Friday sacked Mohammad Wasim as the chairman of the selection committee after Najam Sethi lead interim committee took over affairs of BCCI.

“PCB Management Committee has appointed former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi as the interim Chair of the Men’s National Selection Committee. Other members of the panel are: Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum. Haroon Rashid will be the Convener,” PCB statement said.

Meanwhile Najam Sethi also confirmed appointment of Shahid Afridi.

“I am pleased to announce, with immediate effect, an Interim Selection Committee for the New Zealand tour. It comprises Shahid Afridi (Chief Selector), Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar, with Haroon Rashid as Convenor,” Najam Sethi Tweeted.

Shahid Afridi has said that Pakistan need to get back to winning ways, “We need to get back to our winning ways and I have no doubts that through meritocratic and strategic selection decisions, we will help the national side to perform strongly in the series against New Zealand and reclaim the confidence of our fans” .
