Shaheen Afridi went to England for rehab on his own expenses, reveals Shahid Afridi

Srinagar: Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has revealed that pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has went to England for rehab of his injured knee on his own expenses.

Shahid Afridi also revealed that Pakistan Cricket Board has nothing to do with Shaheen’s rehab in England and it was arranged by the pacer on his own.

Afridi got a knee injury on Sri Lanka tour, which forced him to sit out of the Asia Cup as well as the upcoming home series against England.

Initially after spending time with the Pakistan squad in the Asia Cup where he was undergoing his rehab with the team doctor and physio, it was decided by the PCB that Afridi would see a knee rehab specialist in England.

“He has gone to England on his own and on his own ticket and is staying there on his own expenses,” said Afridi on Samaa News.

“I arranged the doctor from here and he then contacted him and is doing everything on his own. The PCB is not doing anything,” he added.

Previously, former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez had lashed out at the PCB for mishandling Shaheen’s injury, adding that the left-arm quick should’ve been sent to England rightaway instead of keeping him with the squad.

Afridi has been named in Pakistan’s T20I World Cup squad today as Pakistan will be officially starting their WC campaign against India on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
