School Games: DYSS win 133 medals

Jammu: The teams representing DYSS in various national school games event have bagged 133 medals for the State this year breaking all previous records.

While expressing his outmost joy and satisfaction over the mass participation of student players in national level events during the current financial year, Director Youth Services and Sports Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad congratulated all those players who made this great achievement possible, a DYSS statement said.

While providing the details about the participation of J&K student players in those sports extravaganzas which were conducted and organized under the aegis of School Games Federation Of India at different states of the country, Sheikh Fayaz stated that 1633 boys and girls participated in these important National sports events. Keeping the unrest of 2016 in view, most of the people were of the opinion that the participation of J&K youth in such National Events look bleak however the commitment, enthusiasm and courage of my field staff, parents of those students who made it possible and last but not the least those talented young student players deserve every appreciation for this great achievement.medals

During the previous years the highest medal tally in a year at national level has remained 83. During the previous financial year the Department had won 38 medals in the National Events and keeping the previous figures of medal tally in view the current achievement ie.  113 Medals in a year is worth celebrating.

Sheikh Fayaz while giving the credit of mass participation of valley youth in Games and Sports to the current dispensation of Government which is being headed by Mehbooba Mufti, highlighted the keen interest and encouragement of Young and Dynamic Minister for Youth Services and Sports Molvi Imran Raza Ansari who has always been an inspiration for young people in this regard.

Director Youth Services and Sports has hoped that the State Youth will continue such efforts which will earn laurels for the people of the State.
