Santosh Trophy: JK beat Uttrakhand by 1-0

Srinagar: In ongoing national football championship for Santosh Trophy 2016-17 (North Zone) JK defeated Uttarakhand in its second group match played at Himachal Pradesh on Friday.

After having played 1-1 draw against Haryana on Wednesday, Jk were in need of a win in this tie.santosh-trophy-1

The team looked to score from the beginning. In 8th minute of the match, JK earned penalty that was converted by Hanan Mir into goal. At half time, Jk were leading by 1-0

In the 2nd half players maintained the same momentum, playing aggressively, every time charging towards the opponent goal with the intention to score. Despite couple if decent chances both teams were not able to score any goal in second half. Jk emerged winner by 1-0 goals.

JK will now clash with Punjab on Sunday. Both teams will need win to qualify for the next round.
