Cristiano Ronaldo has been hailed by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez ahead of the club’s match against fierce rivals Barcelona.
Ronaldo has struck a staggering 376 goals in 363 games for Real, becoming the club’s record goalscorer in all competitions in the process. He was recently handed a five-year contract extension by the club.
‘Cristiano is special,’ said Perez, speaking exclusively to AFP.
‘His stats are scandalous. We are delighted with Cristiano Ronaldo. He gives us more than we pay him.
‘We have renewed his contract for five more years and we are very proud to have done so.’
Ronaldo has broken a staggering number of records since joining Real Madrid in 2009 from Manchester United.
As well as being the club’s top overall goalscorer, he is the joint top goalscorer in a single game and has scored the joint fastest hat-trick.
Ronaldo also has the most hat-tricks in all competitions, the most hat-tricks in La Liga and the most hat-tricks in a single season in Real Madrid history.
The Portuguese forward and Real take on Barcelona in a highly anticipated match on Saturday.
