Rashid Khan to DONATE all World Cup 2023 match fee to Afghanistan earthquake victims

Srinagar: Afghanistan star cricketer Rashid Khan has announced that he will be donating all his match fee from ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India to the victims of earthquake back home in Afghanistan.

Rashid Khan shared heartfelt message on a social media platform X , expressing his sadness at the tragic consequences of earthquake in Afghanistan.

“I learned with great sadness about the tragic consequences of the earthquake that struck the western provinces (Herat, Farah, and Badghis) of Afghanistan.

I am donating all of my #CWC23 match fees to help the affected people.

Soon, we will be launching a fundraising campaign to call upon those who can support the people in need,” Rashid Khan posted.

Powerful earthquakes in Afghanistan have killed more than 2,000 people and injured more than 9,000, the Taliban administration said on Sunday, in the deadliest tremors in years in the quake-prone mountainous country.

Amid the confusion, the death toll from Saturday’s quakes spiked from 500 reported on Sunday morning by a Red Crescent spokesperson and 16 from Saturday night. The quakes hit 35 km (20 miles) northwest of the city of Herat, with one measuring 6.3 magnitude, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
