Ranji Trophy: Despite at top, J&K yet to qualify for quarters

J&K team all smiles after outplaying Tripura

Srinagar, February 07: Jammu and Kashmir, in spite of topping the Group C points table after pipping Tripura, is yet to qualify for quarter-finals of Ranji Trophy.

The side with 39 points from 8 game stand at top, however, as Services ran away with a bonus point-win in the round-eight, no team from Group C has confirmed its entry in the second round.

Unbeaten J&K could still fall short, given they lose their upcoming match against Haryana while Services manage another 7 points and Odhisa posts an outright win in the last round of the mega tourney.

Even if Services, currently owning 33 points, get an outright win against Chattisgarh in the match nine, they will have equal points as that of J&K that is 39. In this case, NRR (Net Run Rate) will decide the outcome, wherein J&K looks the strong contender.

Odhisa, on the other hand, with 35 points right now, will also require to register an outright win to pip J&K in the points table.

However, these scenario can only be applied if J&K loses the Haryana encounter. If they managed first innings lead of even drew the match, the Parvez Rasool-led side will go through.
