Ranji Troohy-Day 1: Lunch Report : Samiullah’s strikes put Kerala on backfoot

 

Srinagar, Oct 6: Making coming into the side, veteran pacer Samiullah Beigh scalped three Kerala wickets to put J&K in the commanding position at the end of first sessions play on first day of their Ranji trophy match against Kerala at Kolkatta on Thursday.

samiullahAt lunch, Kerala were on 106 for the loss of four wickets in 32 overs. S Samson was batting on 26 while as R Fernandez was yet to open account. Samoiullah took three wickets for JK while as Ram dayal took one. Kerala got terrible start to the match with Samiullah opener Thakkar LBW in third over for the score of only eight runs. In next over, Ram Dayal picked wicket of PR Prem leaving Kerala on nine for the loss of two wickets. J Saxena then studied the ship along with Samson , taking Kerala score to 106 runs. It was the moment when Kerala again were jolted by two back to back strikes. This time it was experienced –pacer Samuiullah who first took wicket of opener Saxena and then very bagged prize wicket of Sachin Baby. Prem scored 69 while as Baby got out on duck.
