Mumbai Oct 20: Promising opening batsman Shubham Khajuria batted for 206 minutes and played a patient innings of 90 runs off 238 balls to help JK to score 205/6 against Andhra Pradesh in the Ranjhi trophy plate group match at Brabourne stadium cricket club of India ground Mumbai today.
Shubham was well supported by dependable Parvez Rasool who scored 45 runs of 114 balls in the partnership of 99 runs for the 4th wicket.
Earlier, put into bat, J&K were struggling at 51/3 when Rasool joined Khajuria in the middle.
Both the batsman played sensibly and applied themselves almost to the
perfection and waited for loose deliveries against the disciplined bowling attack of Andhra Pradesh. Shubham played some extra ordinary drives and cuts and hit the ball with fluidity and grace, while Parvez restricted his usual explosive instincts to negotiate the rival bowlers, who were bowling with nagging line and teasing length.
Earlier Adil reshi (1), Ian dev Singh (13) and Amir aziz( 15)were back to the pavilion at the score of 51 runs. Ian was shaping well but he was dismissed by speedster Siva Kumar on what looked like to be a doubtful decision. Skipper Mithun Manhas fell for 7 runs .Bandeep Singh 14 and Puneet Bist 12 were at the crease when the stumps were drawn today. For Andhra Siva Kumar ,Vijay Kumar and left arm spinner Bargaw Bhat took 2 wickets each.
