‘PCB unlikely to compensate players for missing out on UAE ILT20’

Srinagar: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is unlikely to compensate its star players for missing out on lucrative inaugural edition of the UAE International League (ILT20) scheduled to be played in January 2023 due to International duties.

As per multiple reports on Pakistan media PCB is resisting issuing NOC to the players owing to the national team’s busy cricketing calendar.

The reports have said that, ILT20 officials have contacted several Pakistani players, including skipper Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Rizwan.

Now the report has said that PCB is only obliged to pay any compensation if the league is being played in the off-season.

Due to this whole scenario, there is a sense of frustration among the players in Pakistan who think they are missing out on monetary gains.

In a bid to keep the elite players fit and available for national duty, the PCB Board of Governors (BoG) meeting allocated a special fund under workload management.

The idea was to compensate up to 60% of the loss, however, this does not apply to the ILT20 and other leagues because there will be a lot of cricket happening in Pakistan during that time period.

If the board prevents a player from participating in the league during the off-season, the loss will only be compensated.
