PCB exempts Afridi from NOC for Afghan T20 league

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Taking a u-turn on Saturday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allowed former Pakistan captain Shahid Khan Afridi to play Afghan Twenty20 league this month.Afridi

According to PCB Chairman Najam Sethi, Shahid Afridi has retired from all forms of International cricket, therefore, he is free to participate in the international leagues.

Earlier on Friday, the PCB expressed anger over Afridi’s decision to participate in the Afghan T20 league.

PCB had barred players from taking part in the Afghan T20 league which is scheduled from September 11 to 22. This policy came after relations had tensed between Afghan Cricket Board (ACB) and PCB. PCB believes that the star all rounder shouldn’t have given such a statement. Earlier, PCB had barred other retired players such as former captain Misbah-ul-Haq and all-rounder Abdul Razzaq from taking part in the league.

The Afghan T20 League schedule also coincides with the World XI tour of Pakistan from September 12 to 15. PCB had organized a farewell ceremony for Shahid Afridi, Misbah ul Haq and Younis Khan on September 14 in Lahore. However, Afridi’s tweet suggests that he wouldn’t be available to take part in the farewell ceremony.
