Parra, Thakur convenes sports associations meet

With the aim to achieve better results at National and International level competition, J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC) convened meeting of various Sports Associations officials on Thursday.

The meeting that was called upon by Joint secretary JKSSC, Zamir Ahmad Thakur was chaired by Secretary Sports Council Waheed ur Rehman Parra and was attended by Sports Council member Professor Bashir, Rauf Ahmad Tramboo, various heads of associations and sports council official’s.

In the meeting the associations were asked to furnish a detailed project report duly supported with financial implications for the creation of sports academies, schools in their respective sports disciplines in the State of J&K so that such proposals could be taken up with relevant Government, Semi-Government or other agencies to facilitate the creation of such academies.

Parra told association heads they are the people who can give us ideas, proposals for the overall development and reviving of sports culture in the state, a statement issued said.

He further added that the sports council is taking SAI Training centres in the state as a pilot model.

Talking to the reporters outside, the heads of various sports associations affiliated with sports council said that the response of the JK Sports Council is innovative and progressive.
