Secretary J&K State Sports Council Waheed ur Rehman Parra flagged off Burn Hall school cycling expedition from Srinagar to Baramulla.
The expedition was flagged off in presence of Principal Burn Hall FR. Sebastian N alongwith sports promoter Arif Laigroo from Burn Hall school Srinagar. In the expedition 20 riders who mostly included Burn Hall students took part. The riders were lead by International cyclist of Kashmir Akber khan.
While flagging off the expedition, Parra hailed the young cyclists for taking up cycling and also hailed Burn Hall for coming up with various sports events for its students.
“I am impressed with the progress of these students after having taken cycling recently. It shows that they have got the talent and just need the ignition to kick off that. Akber has done that and they are now ready go extra mile,” Parra said.
“Burn Hall is providing all the facilities and encouragement to its students in sports. That is what is needed from any Institute for its students. It is only after that we can nurture future talent. I hope that Burn Hall continue such activities in future as well,” he added.
Arif said that it is not easy to take up expedition from Srinagar to Baramulla on cycles.
“It is around 55 kilometers and these students who start from class 5th and upto 9th will be covering this distance on cycles. It shows their determination to do well and accept new challenges. They were recently part of cycling training programe and now are going for this expedition,” Laigroo said.
After covering the distance, students were welcomed in Baramulla by Principal St Joseph School and he hailed the feat achieved by the students.
The overall expedition was held under the supervision of former national level athlete well known sports promoter Gulzar Khan and Burn Hall sports teacher Feroze Khan.
