GOLD COAST: Pakistan’s hockey team, as well as teams of table tennis, boxing, athletics, tennis, swimming squash and shooting and badminton, have reached here to compete in the 21st Commonwealth Games which commence from Wednesday.
The eight-member wrestling team will be arriving here on April 8. Pakistan has sent a contingent comprising 56 athletes and 21 officials to the Games here.
Pakistan hockey team will play its first warm-up match on Tuesday against Scotland at the Gold coash hockey center while other national outfits will train in respective training centers in Ashmore, Belmont etc.
The entire CW Games athletes village has been brilliantly decorated for the Games which are being hosted by Australia for the fifth time. This continent first hosted the CW Games at Sydney in 1938, in Perth in 1962, then in Brisbane in 1982 and in Melbourne in 2006.
The lanes and buildings here carry colourful mascots, lights and the flags of all the competing nations.
