Srinagar: Multan Sultans skipper Mohammad Rizwan has lauded his young bowling lineup for their performance in the ongoing PSL 2023.
Multan have a contingent of young fast bowlers, which includes the likes of Ihsanullah, Abbas Afridi, Sameen Gul, Mohammad Ilyas and Shahanawaz Dahani, who has been ruled out of the tournament with an injury.
“If you are asking with regards to them, they are doing a fantastic job. If you ask me that how am I managing them, then it is a tough job. Because everyone knows that the standard of PSL is very high and the matches are high voltage,” said Rizwan in an exclusive interview with Cricwick.
“And we know that these bowlers are not very experienced. They are energetic, skillful but you need experience at this stage. I think the way they are performing, I have no words. But sometimes it gets difficult, I think it is one of the qualities of captain that you utilize your available resources instead of making excuses.”
“It is going quite well, a lot of things we were thinking about have been achieved. There have been a few ups and downs in terms of the results but I suppose it is part of the game.”
Regarding the batting talent in the PSL and the performance of players like Mohammad Haris, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, Azam Khan, Rizwan said, “As far as batting is concerned, we have good batters. There is a lack of explosive batters but sometimes there are different surfaces. For example the one in Multan, it was different and sometimes it goes in the favour of the batters. The new ball comes onto the bat but it gets tricky with the older one”.
“We have players, and the players that you mentioned, we keep on chatting about these things. Sometimes the team will have to develop, you have to adapt to different conditions. Saim, Haris, Azam Khan is doing very well. There are good players coming through but I think the main quality lies in the fast bowlers.”
