Srinagar, January 30: In a major reshuffle, J&K Government on Saturday transferred various officials with Nuzhat Gul being made new Secretary, J&K Sports Council.
Government vide order No.93–JK(GAD) of 2021, dated: 30.01.2021,transferred current J&K Sports Council Secretary Dr Naseem Javid Choudhary as Director Tourism Jammu.
In his place, Government has appointed eminent golf-expert Nuzhat Gul as the new secretary of the major sporting body.
Nuzhat Gul was currently Secretary, Royal Springs Golf Course, Srinagar, holding additional charge of Managing Director-cum-Chief Executive Officer, Golf Development and Management Authority at Kashmir Golf Club.
It is probably for the first time that a person with sports background has been appointed as Secretary Sports Council.
Nuzhat Gul is accredited with specialization in turf and sports fields from university of Massachusetts, Amherst USA.
Her contribution to the Golf and Tourism promotion has been immense. She has played pivotal role in construction, maintenance and organising of tournaments and high-profile event management in the tourism sector.
Her posting as Secretary J&K Sports Council is seen as LG Manoj Sinha’s impetus to develop sports culture for youth in J&K.Her contribution in promoting sports for children has also been widely-lauded.
Major Sports Associations of J&K have welcomed the step taken by the administration which ‘is going to infuse new life’ in sports infrastructure and activities in the UT .
