National School Games-Football: J&K out of contest despite convincing win over Puducherry

 

Jammu, Dec 8: Quarterfinals position has been cleared in the ongoing 62nd National School Games Under-19 Football Championship, being organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, under the aegis of School Games Federation of India at various venues, here.

The teams which have qualified for the last eight stage include Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.football

Hosts Jammu and Kashmir defeated Puducherry by three goals to two (3-2) in a well fought contest, but failed to qualify for the quarterfinals stage as Rajasthan topped the Pool with all three wins to qualify for the last eight stage. For J&K, Sahil scored 2 goals in 36th and 56th minutes, while, Aftab netted another one in 52nd minute. M. Hariharan and B. Vignesh were the goal scorers for Puducherry in 37th and 44th minutes respectively.
