A 9-kms Marathon was today organized by the Assistant Regional Transport Office Anantnag under ‘Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha’ in South Kashmir. The Marathon was flagged off by the DDC Anantnag Mohammad Younus Malik.
The Marathon Race was organized from Akad Park and was concluded at Tik Bagh Mattan South Kashmir. Scores of Students from various colleges and schools participated in the event and reiterated that they would work for road Safety. While addressing participants DDC Anantnag said need of the hour is to develop sports culture so that youth can excel in sports not only on national level but also at international level. In the Marathon, First Position was secured by Mushtaq Ahmad Boomla, Son of Farid u Din Boomla, a student of Govt. Degree College Bijbehara, while the Second Position was secured by Muhstaq Ahmed Bimla son of Mohammed Lateef of Jawahar Nav Vidyalaya School Aishmuqam and the third position was secured by Aijaz Akram Dar of Government Degree College (GDC) Bijbehara.
Present on the occasion were ARTO Anantnag, Qaiser Mallik DSP Traffic Anantnag, Nasir Khan, Tehsildar Mattan, Ab. Rashid, Naib Tehsildar Syed Fayaz, chief warden Bureau chief Kashmir News service, Tassaduq Rashid, inspectors of motor vehicle Manzoor Ahamed, Omar Khan, Bilal Ahamed, media personalities Gulzar Ganai, Fida Hussain, Deen Imran, Irfan Khan and officials of other departments.
