MTB cycling championship held in Budgam


Srinagar: The third edition of open Mountain Terrain Biking (MTB) cycling championship was held at Syedabad Ompora, Budgam.

The event was flagged off by Mohd Ayoub khan Physical education Master and Mohd Rafi pandit of DYSS Budgam. Around 90 cyclists took part in it.

Parvaiz Hussain finished first while as Waheed Ahmed and took the second and Jehangir Ahangher bagged third position in senior category.

In the category of youth boys Ikhlak Hussain of Khelo India cycling centre Budgam finished first, while as Tajamul Rashid of Khelo India cycling centre Budgam and Imdad Ali of Khelo India cycling centre finished second and third.
In the sub junior boys category
Azan Ali of Khelo India cycling centre Budgam, Arsalan of khelo india cycling centre Budgam and Mansoor Majeed bagged first, second and third positions respectively.

Later, Nuzhat Gul Secretary J&K Sports Council (JKSC), Dr.Mohd Akbar Khan Member JKSC, were present on the occasion and distributed prizes among the winners.

While interacting with the budding cyclists, Secretary JKSC highlighted the importance of cycling and participation of youth in games and sports. She assured them that every possible step shall be taken by the Sports Council to build modern cycling tracks and walk ways in all the districts of J&K.

Secretary JKSC also applauded the encouraging role of Cyclist Dr Mohammad Akbar Khan and Gulzar Khan, a sports promoter from district Budgam, who have been very inspiring in creating a favourable atmosphere for this sport in the district.
