Srinagar: Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir delivered a sensational spell in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 league including a four wicket maiden.
Overall Mohammad Amir playing for New York Strikers produced a spell of four wickets for just eight runs to wreck Chennai Braves’ batting. His spell restricted Chennai to 75 for 9 and ensured New York Strikers a five-wicket win in the 23rd match of the Abu Dhabi T10 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.
With the win, the Strikers regained the top position with 10 points and also ensured qualification to the playoffs with a match to spare.
New York Strikers too got off to a shaky start losing three wickets for 30 runs, but Asif Ali through an unbeaten 23 ensured their victory with nine balls to spare. Sam Cook and Junaid Siddique’s effort with two wickets each went in vain.
Earlier Kobe Herft got run out to the first ball of the second over through a quick direct throw by Amir at the bowling end. George Munsey followed soon after, nicking on to the wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the same over for 6. Amir then got rid of Bhanuka Rajapaksa for a duck. Worse was to follow as the left-arm pacer struck with the last ball of the second over inducing a false shot from Charith Aslanka(0). He produced a maiden that saw Chennai four wickets.
Amir picked his fourth wicket in the eighth over by cleaning bowling Jason Roy who played across the line for 18.
