Match Report: J&K stun Andhra by five wickets

With an impressive show on Monday, Jammu and Kashmir stunned hosts, Andhra Pradesh, to register their second win of the tournament, hence going up at fourth place in the points table.

Earlier, superb bowling display by experienced campaigner, Ram Dayal and skipper, Parvez Rasool helped J&K restrict Andhra on a below par score of 146 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

As the pitch was quite flat, Andhra looked under pressure from the very beginning of second innings. For J&K, Wadhwan and Samad started off the proceedings. The duo played sensibly in first few overs, however, Jatin lost his cool in the fourth over as he was caught in the covers.

Pertinently, Adil Reshi who never found peace at the wicket, was the next to go. He was making his comeback in the side after a long time, though couldn’t make most of it despite hitting a beautiful six in the initial phase of his innings.

Samad after playing a good cameo of 30 runs also departed while trying to whack Karan Sharma for a six. Later, Shubham Pundir and Parvez Rasool guided the innings as they plotted a brilliant 50-run partnership.

Pundir scored scintillating half-century while Parvez hit 30 runs before both of them were sent back to the pavilion, when innings were about to end. Lastly, Irfan Pathan and Manzoor Dar steered J&K to win, with 9 balls to spare. Manzoor finished the game in style with a boundary over mid-wicket region.

With this win, J&K made a slight improvement in the points table, getting at the fourth place from sixth. They have 8 points from 4 games.
