Kashmir Harvard sports day observed, stars honored

Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute celebrated its annual sports day by honoring the various International sport stars of Kashmir and veteran journalist Yusuf Jameel at school campus, Habak Naseem Bagh, here on Saturday.

Almost all the renowned sports stars were honored by the Institute in a glittering function held in its newly build auditorium.

Director School Education Kashmir Dr Ghulam Nabi Itoo was chief guest on the occasion and gave away awards to the stars along with Chairman Kashmir Harvard, Tariq Ahmad and Principal Kashmir Harvard Irfaana Yousuf.

Among the persons honored were veteran journalist Yusuf Jameel, International footballer Mehraj ud Din Wadoo, Ishfaq Ahmad, International water sport coach Bilquis Mir, first Olympian of State Gul Mustafa Dev, International cyclist Akber Khan, International Para-cricketer Amir Hussain, former International skier and Assistant Director DYSS Shabir Ahmad Wani. Para-athlete Dr Tak, first national Judo medalist, Umar Hamza besides various other martial art and yoga players.

On the occasion institute also honored various persons for working untiringly in the development of sports and that included Chairman Iqbal Sports Bashir Ahmad Malik, Director Sports Islamia College Dr Altaf ur Rehman, former national level athlete Gulzar Khan and Deaf and Dumb Sports Association official Mohammad Saleem Wani.

On the occasion institute also felicitated Srinagar Municipality Committee brand ambassador an 18-year-old year old boy Bilal Dar.

The man behind the idea and bringing almost all the top sport stars of Kashmir at one place for the honor, Nisar Hussain said that aim is to motivate future generation towards the sport.

“These all are inspiration for us and to see these stars in front of them will certainly act as a motivation for our future generation. To honor is an excuse the real part is to show our kids what these stars have achieved over the years for the State at various forms,” Nisar Hussain.

HOD sports, Kashmir Harvard Sheikh Mubashir said that institute has given specific preference to the sports activities and this event was part of that process.

“Kashmir Harvard has been promoting sports on various platforms from last many years. It was great to see stalwarts of sports and journalism in our institute. Students liked it very much and we are sure they will get motivated by their achievements,” he said.
