After losing all the matches so far, J&K U-23 is playing their fourth match against mighty Saurashtra. Saurashtra put on a massive score of 587/4d in their first inning and seems have already upper hand in the match. It is completely visible that team’s Captain- Shubham Pundir is not doing justice with his job.
Whether it is keeping team united or rotating bowlers, he completely fails to utilize the full potential of his players. In last matches he bowled most overs from part time bowlers and at times came himself to bowl while keeping strike bowlers at rest. In current match, his bowling rotation was even worst, as he kept left arm spinner on from one side though he gave away 200 above and just took one wicket. While Nasir Lone- one of the emerging young pacers from valley was given just two overs on first day one and overall 10 overs in full innings.
Other strike bowlers too were given spells of few overs, which made it easy for Saurashtra batsman to settle down and score such mammoth score. It has been also found that his behavior on field with other players too hasn’t been justifying. Captain plays a major role in teams performance, authorities should look into the matter and either remove him as skipper or ask him to change his behavior before it would be too late.
