JKMHC undertakes Laar Marg trekking

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Mountaineering and Hiking Club on Sunday resumed its trekking activities after a halt of halt of five months.

The club resumed activity with participation of 25 youth in a trekking trip to Laar Marg in Ganderbal.

The participants assembled at Tourist Reception Center at 7am today where from they proceeded towards Waliwar Lar. They trekked 15 kilometers for four hours uphill to reach Larmarg meadow which is in Koahima range and is overlooking Sindh valley and north Kashmir, JKMHC statement said.

The Laar Marg is grazing ground of the cattle for adjoining villages in summer.

Despite hostile weather and foggy conditions, the participants trekked and braved the weather vagaries. The trekkers came back in the evening.

The department of tourism is also making efforts to promote Laar Marg and Mohan Marg as trekking destinations in Ganderbal

The 500 meter ridge from Lar Marg to Mohan Marg leads towards Harmukh, Malood and Bandipora

Jammu and Kashmir Mountaineering and Hiking Club is planning more treks in coming days.
