JKCA names replacement for Umran Malik in Vijay Hazare Trophy squad

Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Saturday named pacer Akash Choudhary as replacement for Umran Malik for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy squad.

Umran Malik was recently named in India’s T20I and ODI squad for New Zealand tour, hence making him unavailable for Vijay Hazare Trophy, which starts from Novemeber 12.

Akash Choudhary, the right-arm pacer from Jammu, has represented J&K in Ranji Trophy before and would be taking part in the 50-over tourney for the first time.

“Consequent to the selection of Mr. Umran Malik in Indian Team for New Zealand Tour, the Senior Men Selection Committee, JKCA under the chairmanship of Mr. Vidhya Bhaskar has recommended the name of Mr. Akash Choudhary as his replacement for the Vijay Hazare OD Tournament 2022-23,” JKCA communicated in an order Saturday.

“The Sub-Committee has approved the recommendations of the Selection Committee. The name of Mr. Akash Choudhary is being included in the 16 selected players to represent ]KCA,” Order read.

J&K, who is part of Elite Group A, will face Madhya Pradesh in the first match on November 12 at D.Y Patil Stadium, Mumbai.
