Islamia College kick starts seasonal activities

The seasonal sports activities of Islamia College Srinagar started with Inter Staff Bilal Baba Memorial T-20 cricket Tournament played on Thursday and Friday.

The event was inaugurated by the Principal Dr Muzafar Ahmed Khan at the college play field. The tournament was organised to commemorate the memory of former employee of the college Bilal Ahmed Baba, who passed away five years ago.

The players of the college teaching, non teaching and support staff were divided in four teams of Blues, Yellows , Oranges and Greens.

The final was played between Team Blues and Greens.  Batting first Green scored 152 runs for the loss of seven wicket. Gowhar Sidiq was the highest scorer with 48 runs in 27 balls. While chasing a target of 153 runs Prof. Tanvir played the captain’s knock, scoring unbeaten 78 runs in 53 balls which enabled team Blue to overhaul the target for the loss of eight wickets. Prof. Tanvir Khan was adjudged as the man of the match.

Principal Prof Muzafar Ahmed Khan gave away the rolling trophy to the winning team and congratulated both teams for wonderful display of sportsmen sprit during the matches.
