Srinagar: IPL Team owners who are owning the franchisees in CSA T20 and UAE T20 leagues have expressed their reluctance on the inclusion of Pakistan cricketer’s in the league.
As per report by InsideSport.IN, the owners have said that they dont want Pakistan cricketer’s fearing backlash in India over their inclusion.
“We don’t want Pakistani players. First, it is hard to negotiate with the board for the NOCs. Then comes the backlash in India. I don’t think any fan in India will be happy if Pakistani players play for us,” a franchise official with teams in both UAE & South Africa leagues told InsideSport.
An IPL franchise official with the team in the UAE league said they are not considering any player from the neighbouring country.
A lot is at stake for the team as huge investment is involved. No one wants to hurt gthe sentiments of the fans back home. We have decided not to chase any player. They have some of the best players in the shortest format of the game, but it’s not in our best interest,” the franchise official was quoted by InsideSport.
Indian franchises have requested the BCCI to allow non-contracted Indian players to play in overseas tournaments
