Srinagar, May 6: A few dismal shows and an injury-hit outing in IPL 2021 made J&K cricketer, Abdul Samad, miss out on the Wisden’s Indian uncapped team of the tournament.
Samad, who is highly regarded for his power-hitting, started IPL 2021 on an impressive note by scoring unbeaten quick-fire 19 runs in 8 balls in the opening match but couldn’t do much in the rest of three games that he played.
His couple of bad outings was followed by injury that kept him out of team for three matches. In the comeback match after injury, he was again unable to live to the hype while his team was chasing a big total.
As now the IPL has been postponed due to COVID 19, it took away any more opportunities from Abdul Samad to leave an impression.
The widely-known cricket magazine, Wisden, compiled an XI of uncapped IPL players, featuring best of the Indian upcoming talent, which Samad didn’t make it to.
In the four matches he played, Samad was able to score only 36 runs with highest of 19 not-out. He didn’t bowl in any of the matches either.
