In a shocking incident which is one of kind in the history of a cricket, BCCI stopped the ongoing match of CK Nayudu Trophy between hosts Goa and J&K only after 10-overs.
J&K High Court had put stay on the selection and deputation of J&K Under-23 owing to the petition filed by one of the player alleging selection discrepancy.
However despite Court order J&K Cricket Association deputed its team for the national event. The team was on Sunday in the middle of the match with Goa batting on 43 for the loss of one wicket when BCCI officials stopped the play. Only 13 overs were bowled when the match was stopped.
It is learnt that Court order was also served to BCCI and who in turn stopped the whole match leaving all J&K players stranded in the middle of the pitch.
“Even match referee is puzzled by the BCCI’s action. He said that he has never seen such thing happening during his career. You can’t put careers of whole team on stake because one player was not selected in the team,” said sources in the team.
Sources said that players are disheartened and some were seen crying as they were fully prepared to take one of the biggest challengers of their cricketing career.
None of the J&K Cricket Association officials were available for the comment.
